About Me
Right out of high school, I didn’t know what to study. I was never a good student as my mind was always wandering. A cousin, who specializes in testing to define people’s abilities, told me “you have what a child once described as: a TV inside that you like more”. That’s me. I’m always creating with my mind. Nature, architecture, and everything around me often have the effect of abstracting me from the place where I physically am. Compositions always fascinate me, whether they be of clouds, shadows, textures, or colors.
Albert Einstein said, “Creativity is the mind having fun,” and it’s true. I thoroughly enjoy the whole process of creating. In the end I decided to study liberal arts with an emphasis on photography. I also studied some jewelry design and drawing. I liked them all equally.
I never practiced my profession, but I was always the one taking photos on trips and family gatherings. Digital photography emerged and I became more comfortable. I put my film camera away. Then came smartphones with their built-in cameras. It was ideal; you always had a camera at hand for every “Kodak moment”. I became even more comfortable, but I also began to take my best photos- the improvised ones, capturing the incredible things that happen every day.
With all the free time I had during the Covid confinement and with the exceptional luck of living surrounded by nature, I began to see and appreciate things with new eyes. Although they had always been there, I had never realized how fascinating they were. Above all I was taken with “reflections”. Water, in addition to transmitting a relaxing energy, captures the colors of everything around it, creating abstract paintings. Likewise, reflections on other surfaces appeared in photos like impressionist paintings, seemingly made with a brush.
For the past three years, I’ve become obsessed with the subject and discovered “a world made of ghosts” as I call them, in these reflections. I went back to my camera, a compact Leica that accompanies me almost daily because of its size and weight. Here I present a sample of what I see everyday. I hope you enjoy it.
